Equation Collaborative is excited to announce that +BOX is the recipient of a grant award from Life Science Cares San Diego, a nonprofit that empowers corporations within the Life Sciences Industry to use their time, talent, and treasure to help end poverty. Life Science Cares unites the life science community by providing human and financial resources to the most impactful partner organizations throughout San Diego that address three fundamental gaps: survival, education, and sustainability.

One in three San Diegans experience nutrition insecurity, which means they are unable to provide three nutritious meals per day for themselves or their families. Almost 40% of children in San Diego are nutrition insecure. +BOX is working hard to provide essential nutrition to as many food insecure families as possible, but the need is greater than ever. The support from Life Science cares will enable us to put 4,000 healthy meals on the tables of nutrition insecure families in San Diego.

In addition to financial support, Life Science Cares will provide +BOX with vital human resources in the form of volunteer engagement from life sciences employees. Volunteers will not only support our regular Pack Out events, but also provide relevant subject matter expertise and guidance to help us effectively grow our organization and expand our impact in the community.

+BOX joins five other San Diego area nonprofits in the current cohort of Life Science Cares grantees. We’re excited to get to know our fellow grantees better, learn from their experiences, and work together with Life Science Cares leadership to address social imbalances in San Diego County.
